what main jet is recommended for a 76 rd400 with dg pipes ? is the stock size 140 ?

I can't tell you what size but I can tell you it will not be the stock main jet size. It also depends on if you are running stock air box or a Y boot, stock carbs or larger carbs, and stock or modified porting. Jump on this forum http://www.2strokeworld.com/forum/index.php and give the complete set up and I bet you will get some pointers. My Daytona is running chambers, Yboot, VM30's and I am running 230's on the mains.

im running stock carbs, stock air box & boots with a uni foam filter & dg pipes, currently running 150 mains but it runs like crap ! thanks for the link

Russ, The main jet is only going to make it run like crap at the wider throttle openings 3/4 to full. You sure it is not the needle height or something else?
