New oil tank installed. Rear wheel and new Avon dropped off at Guardhill Cycle to the ever capable Kenny Fultz...pipes removed to FOM (facilitate other maintenance)
I will give them a good cleanup and a touchup while they are off...

New v-rated Avon mounted and balanced. Rear wheel installed and cleaned up. Chain scrubbed, lubed and adjusted. Hoping it is warm enough tomorrow to touch up the head pipes on the chambers with the new 1100 degree gunmetal gray I got in the mail.
Pics will follow tomorrow....

The newly painted oil tank and sidecover are installed. The picture above shows the new oil tank. It is a near perfect match....

I like the finish/color. I see your faithful spray rack getting good use.

Thanks Barry!
Yeah I used 500 degree gun metal gray last year and it stayed good everywhere except the head pipes of course, because they get way hotter than 500. I sourced the VHT 1000 deg on line after searching everywhere local to no avail. So I took my handy dremel and a wire wheel and got rid of the surface rust just starting to form and wiped everything down good and clean degrease with windex and a final wipedown with rubbing alcohol.
Yep my $2 auction clothes rack has served me quite well as a rolling paint stand...

I found the VHT 550 stuff does the same thing at the head down 6 inches or so. I've used the VHT 1300-2000 SP102 and no issues but only find it in flat (that was a couple years ago) - might be available in gloss now.

Edit: just looked on the website. They have Satin in a quart can, looks like rattle on in flats. Read the instructions though - wow....
