Today in amongst my farm chores the RZ is going on the lift for disassembly for Caswell lining the tank, and removal /disassembly of the bodywork so it can go to the painter for repaint. Installation of the new manual petcock to follow on reassembly. I took it out for a last spin yesterday and will run it up briefly today to circulate the Stabil I put in the fuel. Wheelies were pulled and fun was had, albeit cautious fun as VDOT has in their infinite wisdom spread gravel all over the paved roads here in the county for added traction in the recent snows... :wtf: :wtf:
The RD needs the Hognut Rogers newly painted oil tank installed and a new rear tire that I have yet to order, plus a good detailing and it will be ready as well. The Phoenix Project is likely taking this year off and staying home.

Made a petcock hole cover out of a handy shelf bracket and a piece of inner tube to contain the acetone rinse recommended by Caswell
Image
Ran the airline into the tank for an hour whilst I fed the Baby Mommas to dry the acetone
Image
Caswell doesn't come in cans anymore. It comes in bags that you mash and mix the two part in and then cut open the corner of the bag and squeeze the stuff into the tank
Image
Per the instructions, saran wrap and a rubber band till you get done rotating the tank. I used a rag and 2 screws to plug the petcock hole
Image
Rotated the tank every 5 minutes in every direction for an hour and then poured out the excess (which their wasn't much of)
Image
Done and done. I put a bit of anti-seize on the screws and worked them in and out a few times so they will come out when the stuff sets up.
Caswell is way thicker than Kreme or the other tank sealers I have used. All in all not a bad job. Paint work is next . I hope to have the rest of the pieces off and to the painter by next weekend 8-) 8-)

My addled brain forgot a repair had to be done to the lh side cover. $6.00 for a tube of jb weld plastic weld at ballmart and Robert is your father's brother. :D :D Image

A bit of 80 grit wet or dry tri-mi and cut off a sliver of the 2 part. Knead vigorously per the easy to follow instructions. Two hours later it is hard as a (insert appropriate euphemism relating to a phallus on the wedding night here)

Once my paint guy wet sands the exterior smooth and matches it to the surface, I am thinking the repair will be invisble after primer and paint.
All BS aside I am well impressed with jb weld plastic repair epoxy.

Today I took 30 minutes after feeding the Baby Mommas and pulled the radiator off of the RZ. Then I began the process of figuring out how I am going to mount my R-6 cooling fan.... I will be using adel clamps and securing the fan to the frame downtubes in lieu of mounting it directly to the radiator. More to follow.
